Well it's actually pretty simple.... "Shelf Space"! If you are even able to get your product approved by these large retailer's, the cost is about a million dollars! This value is basically set by large competitor's that do not want you there, they will pay there retailers what it takes to hog shelf space!
Why don't they sell at Target or Walmart where it's cheaper? Well, basically would Lamborghini or Ferrari ever allow Toyota or Mercedes to sell there car's, of course not!
All fragrance's are made for a few dollar's, if not pennies! But the demand however is so high, they can charge the prices they do. Don't think these companies are just ripping you off with these insane profits, remember it does cost millions to even get a product ready for sell, so there were investor's that risked a lot of money prior to knowing how well it will sell!
